With its extensive medical escort register, Aeromed was approached in 2004 to assist a family who were desperate for a holiday - but were concerned to go too far because of the risk of medical complications with their nine year old daughter who was in a wheelchair and suffering from Cerebral Palsy.
The joy of watching this family relax on holiday, knowing their daughter was also with them, was reward enough. However, this turned out to be just the beginning of a new service which has grown steadily and now supports many individuals, families and organisations who otherwise would feel trapped.
Aeromed quickly realised that there are many circumstances (not all of which are medical) in which some form of assistance is required - ranging from two or three hours a day to full 24 hour cover. This is why Aeromed now supplies staff from care assistance through to a range of health care professionals.
