How we work
• Aeromed's triage service is a telemedical service providing acute probable diagnosis and treatment guidelines and advice based on the patient's current location and taking into consideration foreign medical protocols.
• We operate under NHS protocols, Best Practice and NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) guidelines and the remit of our NHS registrations.
• Our system is global. We can advise on international medical protocols and give advice on drugs to both the receiving and treating medical teams, and to the patient and/or their representative while they are being treated away from home.
• The software we use is only licensed for use by registered clinicians, not for call centres manned by untrained staff unfamiliar with conditions or symptoms.
• Our system prompts our trained medical professionals to collect information, and then use this information to determine the appropriate level of treatment.
• The system frees up the call taker to focus on providing quality service and care, saving valuable time in an emergency situation; it is used to support the paramedic, not the other way round.
• We are also the first private company authorised to operate Toxbase - the clinical toxicology database of the UK National Poisons Information Service - under licence.
